A and B are different chipsets, they cannot be "flashed" to become a different hardware type. just keep it as a spare or sell it. No point in destroying it. C4 may eventually bring out a fw for that model so just buy a 124 and keep the 424 handy
Hi all,
I have a 424 A revision, and I have read that they are not supported as they are older than the B revision.
However if I am going to have to buy a new drive anyway I was thinking to attempt to flash the A revision and to make it think it is a B.. is this possible ? I am not worried about potentially bricking it as if it does not work I will buy a new one anyway ..
I have searched but have not found any guide on this..
I appreciate the help

When I read the release for the firmware it was mentioned that the Y are different chipset and the A are just older and untested ..
is this not correct ?
ahh sorry pal got confused, thought there was B and A and thought A was Y. well make a backup of your original 424 fw and go for it. then if all else fails just return it to its original fw (if possible)
well the problem is that when I just try to flash the new firmware it just fails, so I was wondering whether I need to do anything beforehand to flash the A drive into a B.
then it should flash over if its the same
when I tried to just flash it over it did not work, I will try the cross flash tutorial in the evening and see whether this helps at all ..
