The following is a tutorial on how to flash your Lite-on 74850C drive with DosFlash16 1.8 with a DOS boot drive ( whether CD/Floppy/USB ).
I completed my flash the same way on the first try and recommend it to anyone flashing their own drive for the first time.
Xbox 360 Arcade 256MB
Manufacture Date 03-01-2009
S/N 002445XXXXXX
DVD Drive: Lite-On 74850C
Time Elapsed ~10 hrs first run total
PC Rig:
Chenbro Gaming Bomb II
Asus A8V AMD board
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800
Seagate 400G drive
Windows Vista 32bit
Tools and Hardware Needed
Torx 10 screwdriver
Small phillips head screwdriver
Connectivity Kit + Probe (I used Maximus 360 Xtractor Pro + Spear)
Sata cord, 4 pin power connector, and either a mini (B) USB connector or a serial RS232 Comm (I used old PSP B usb cord.)
PC with **Sata connection (I have a A8V mobo with onboard VIA K8T800)
**DVD+RL Burner w/media (I used Verbatim DVD+R DL media)
**Floppy Drive or USB thumb drive or CD-R
USB thumb drive
Software Needed
Windows 32 bit (I used Vista 32 bit)#Unsure if you can do 64 bit due to portio compatability#
latest Visual Basic
portIO32 installed on your computer. Should come with Jungle Flasher.
ABGX360
Lite-on ixtreme firmware (I used 1.6 repack)
Lite-On-Erase
DOSFLASH16
Jungle Flasher 1.66 beta 49
If you make a bootable USB only:
HP/Compaq USB Flash Drive Utilities
FreeDOS ODIN folder from base file
Now, I know all you pros are looking at this guide and saying "You don't need all that crap." Well, I ran into issues with my specific setup and I had to find ways around it. I scoured the internet for all sorts of answers all day. So this is my conclusion on how I got it working. This is gonna be a basic guide pointing you to other guides because I'm lazy and don't feel like going into detail except for where I screwed up.
1.) Disassemble your Xbox down to the DVD drive ( guides all over youtube and google.) Remove from Xbox.
2.)Plug the Xbox connectivity kit to your specific drive. If it did not come with a manual, google it.
3.) Read and complete Jungle Flasher 1.66 guide til right before you flash your drive. Stop there.
Step 4 For boot USB only:
4.) Use HP/Compaq USB drive utility to make a bootable USB drive. Use the FreeDOS ODIN folder to compile the bootable floppy.
5.)Throw DOSFLASH16 and Lite-on-erase onto the root of the bootable drive, as well as your new compiled Custom Firmware (should be called lite_cfw.bin)
6.)turn of connectivity kit. Boot up your PC with the new USB/CD/floppy boot, power on the kit, and use your DOS knowledge to locate amd run Lite-On-Erase. Google the instructions for lite-on-erase if you don't know how to work it. If you don't know your port, use DOSFlash to find it. Should be a number like 0xC400. Do not use 0x when putting it in.
7.)Use DOSFLASH16 to install your new custom firmware. Say no to the first few questions until it asks you what your port is.
8.) Rip your LEGAL COPY of your game with ABGX google for instructions how.
Like I said. This is a rough draft. I will update when I get time to make it better, but I just flashed my drive and want to play some games.

Re: Lite-On 74850C
Nice to see someone else using my favourite flashing tool.
It might help if you edit this into your tutorial.
If your liteon has crashed your pc at the erase step or JF will no longer detect your drive don't panic,
you can still save your drive.
I've done the following on liteon 74850c using dosflash16 v1.7(1.8 should be the same).
Tools needed:
A usb or floppy drive.
Dosflash16 v1.8
L-O-ERAS
JungleFlasher
Open JF & goto the firmwaretool tab.
Load your dummy.bin as the source & let JF autoload the ixtreme 1.6.
Click spoof to target(just to be double sure).
Save the FW & name it cfw.bin.
Close JF.
Make the usb/floppy bootable.
Add a folder to it called dos.
In the dos folder add dosflash16,L-O-ERAS,& cfw.bin.
Go into your bios & change you boot order to usb/fdd/floppy 1st depending on you setup.
Reboot your pc.
You will need the port your 360 is on. If eg 0xff70 is the port you use ff70,last 4 digits.
If you don't know the port then do steps 1,2,8,9a,make a note of the port & restart pc & 360.
1)At the A:/,D:/ etc prompt turn on your 360
2)Type cd dos,ENTER
3)Type l-o-eras.
4)at this prompt type l-o-eras ff70,ENTER
5)You will get a status eg 0x51
6)type l-o-eras ff70, repeat this until you get 0x72 as the status.
7a)Power cycle the drive
7b)If while using dosflash the drive won't flash start again & skip step 7a.
8)type dosflash
9a)You will normally be told mtk vendor intro failed select N.
9b)If flashing doesn't work restart & skip 9a select Y & power cycle the drive.
10)You will see your drives listed & numbered.Your liteon will be PDLS.
11)Select your drive number.
12)You now have some options for what to do E,R,W.
13)Type w.
14)You'll now be asked for a file name type cfw.bin,ENTER
15)Your drive will now be erased & flashed with ixtreme 1.6
16)When you get a status after flashing you can turn the drive off & try it out.
I havn't tried this on the 83850c so I have no idea if it would work.

Is this the definition of irony?

Re: Lite-On 74850C
Can i just add that this method can be used to recover a samsung and benq drives. Again when in dosflash all you need to do is on the 'no identify possible' hit Y and power cycle your drive, benq/samsun/liteon then send your CFW over.
Also if your liteon has froze your pc on the liteon erase on VIA cards, there is no need for the l-o-eras. The drive should be ok to recover just on dosflash.
Liteon vendor mode - 0x72
Benq vendor mode - 0x73
Samsung - 0x70
