Thread: No power / lights after RROD repair and attempted USB update

How do you mean it got stuck? stuck as in froze or physically stuck and wouldn't pull out again! did you hear anything or smell anything unusual? you may have blown a cap or 2, how did you fix the rrod?

It froze on the update screen - just stopped. No burning smells or anything obvious like that. Fixed RROD with x-clamps.

loosen your screws on the gpu, it might be causing a short

Check the USB port where you plugged your thumb drive into. You might have bent one of the pins. This will short out the 360

All you did was an x-clamp repair, no reflow?

Do you have any nylon washers left that you could use to sit on top of the ram blocks that sit under the gpu heatsink? this stops the shorting that can occur by fitting the xclamp replacement kit. also check the power pack, i have had a few that somehow managed to push one of the pins in on the plug end that caused issue's too.

Unplug everything from USB ,and Unplug HDD.
try restart xbox and hold sync button on front of xbox.
if it starts then reconnect and clear HDD cache at HDD options.

and check your drive firmware .
it might need pre or post stock for dash update to succeed.
pre for dash before 13141
post for after dash 13141

i would also try check GPU heatsink ,see if you didnt apply to much paste.
and if the screws are tightened well enough.

also check the mobo and metal case for shorts.
and you could check if the screws of the RF board are ok.
and if the RF board is making a short or not
