What's your budget?
Good morning!
I'm new to xbox - only experience I've had with them is that I flashed a LiteOn 93450c (everything was fine until soldering accident...) for my neighbor. While I'm waiting for the replacement PCB for that driveI'm thinking I'll go over to GameStop and get a used one to mess around with here at the house. Bear with me because we are a Wii / PS3 household so I actually never even saw anyone play with an xbox and I don't know how they work. Wondering if I can ask some quick questions before I grab something? I'll tell you a little bit about the family because that may help you answer - we are not big die hard gamers, my kids play the Wii mostly (they are young) but my ex husband has an xbox that the kids play there so I'd like to make backups of those games so my kids can play them on this xbox.
I'm not sure what model to get or what's the smartest to do cost wise. I see they have the preowned ones with wireless controller for $120 USD. http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Prod...oduct_id=69349
[edited to note that BestBuy outlet has a bunch also - Pro and Elite refurbs]
Are these ok or is it dumb because I will have to get additional items (like a HD, memory, etc) with it?
Do I need a model with a hard drive?
If I do go the pre owned route there are usually a few to choose from - are there specific dates, models, colors that I'd be looking for?
THANK YOU so much in advance for advice!!
What's your budget?
Well, I went over to GameStop to look into things and I left with a 360 Pro refurb w 2 wireless controllers

Is this is an ok one? I figured it was good enough for a 3rd system in the house ... I needed this new one like I need another kid![]()
I took the faceplate off as soon as I took the plastic off and cringed when I saw the yellow wires - is there anything I should do (or not do) in terms of updating or anything like that before I rip into it and start cutting traces? I'm not sure of how the xbox updates whether it's through system updates like the Wii???
Thank you again!!
That system probably be OK for a while but if it isn't a Jasper chipset, it's more susceptible to the RROD. Whats the manufacturer's date on the back of the Xbox? Before you do anything, update your console to the latest dashboard so you won't have to do it after you flash.
It says 7-16-2010 on the back of the xbox.
What I don't get it why it isn't Wifi right out of the box like the PS3 and Wii. That stinks.
OK so I updated the dashboard and I think I'm good to go now! Wish me luck because I just know I have that 93450c in there - it's going to be "me vs 360" again today!![]()
You will be in luck with that dont worry with a MFR date like that chances are you wont get the 83850c v2 or the 93450c, iv done a few xbox's with MFR date's of august 2010 which did;nt have these drives so i think you will be in luck, fingers crossed eymake sure you follow JungleFlasher tutorial >> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X0I9TGOZ
Thanks for the link Slick - I laughed out loud because I've fallen asleep reading over that thing. I know it well. I actually have the entire thing printed out in nice glossy color and spiral bound!! There are post-its and notes all over it like on that page where it says "if you have this drive click here" and it brings you to another page - I have notes that say "go to page x". I'm anal like that.![]()
When I peeked into the xbox it had yellow wires so that's why I had guessed it would be my "Lite On Revenge". Either way I'm taking care of that bad boy today if I can find the time between entertaining my kids. Thanks for crossing your fingers for me!! I'll let you know how I do!
