    Question Truncate/Overburning

If I truncate or overburn, an XGD3 game will burn to 97%. Does that mean that the game will just stop working somewhere near the end? And it won't be possible to install the game to 100% on the HDD either?

    truncated is no longer supported
it means your either using the wrong type of drive
or your drive has not been flashed with burnermax for ihas B drives
or payload tool for other compatible drives
what type of drive are you using for burning?
if it`s not a ihas B, try the payload tool,
if your drive is compatible, it will increase the size of your discs
    from 8.4GB to 8.7GB
and allow you to get a full 100% burn

I'm using the BurnerMax tool with a compatible drive (not iHAS). The problem isn't even the burning. The game burnt 100%, however, failed during the disc finalizing at 99%. When I put the disc in my Xbox, it says "Reading" for a couple of seconds and then says "Open Tray", meaning it does not even detect a disc.

And there's no problem with my Xbox. Right after trying the disc, I tried the original copy and another backup and they worked perfectly.

if payload was succesfull it wouldn`t ask you to truncate or overburn
check the disc size before burning, it should say 8.7gb
if the game failed during finalisation
it could just be a bad disc
are you using singapore verbatim discs?
cheap discs aren`t very good for xgd3

I was just asking about overburning cuz I was looking for an alternative way.
I'm using Verbatim discs (not sure from where) but I've had all perfect burns so far (all XGD2 however).
The disc size was just fine: 8,7..,...,920 bytes (what ever the numbers are in between)

if your disc is showing 8.7 gb
then i don`t understand why it`s still giving you the option
    of truncate/overburn
    best to try another disc

    Yup, still not working.
I tried another disc with the same game and another disc with a different XGD3 game and they all give me the same error.
The finalizing fails at 99%. The error is: "Fixation Session Error Writing Lead Out".

I had that on my Hp burner with the payload tool. Just because its enabled does not mean its working.

Yeah, I have an hp burner as well. I suppose I will have to buy an IHAS burner after all. Thing is if I just wanna just the payload tool, do I have to get the special B version?

No, C and D would work with the payload tool. Unfortunately, many ships the new W and Y revisions. If you get one of those, return it.
