winbond reunlocking problems again

Hi,
I tried to reunlock the drive of a friend with allcohol but it isnt working. I reunlocked my drive before and it did work but now my drive doesnt unlock too.

any help would be great

Can u describe step by step what you are doing when trying to unlock?

intro, 0x8c button, dip qtip in the hole

EDIT: maybe the alcohol doesnt work as well I doubt it though, what alcohol do you use?

Rubbing Alcohol = 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
Like the kind you buy at the pharmacy.

There may be a bit of dust or debris settled in the hole. Try a bit of compressed air (or blow) to see if the hole needs to be cleared. You may need to do the Kamikaze setup again. Only touch this time, don't drill any at all.

^^ This, sometimes they cant be a bit stubborn to re-unlock, use whatever tool you used to drill it and place it in the hole (giggidy) and GENTLY turn it - you are not trying to drill it like the first time, just enough to trip the unlock, so no need to put any pressure on it at all.

it worked now but for next time if it doesnt work, i just can take a knife put it in the hole and turn it if i understood that right? (I didnt drill it myself)

This would be a last resort. If you're not gentle enough, it could cause irreparable damage.

Yes you can do that but be very careful. Also I forgot to mention, sometimes you have to press the qtip into the hole quite hard as well for it to unlock with iso alone, so certainly do that before reaching for the knife.
