All the slims I came across so far had winbond MT. MXIC are so rare now and eventually will seize to exist. If you buy a recent model you will most likely end up with a liteon since they don't make anymore Hitachi drives for the slim.
Hey all,
I just wanted to ask about MXIC or Winbond chipset. What is the ratio of these two. What are the chances that the xbox would have mxic or winbound? Has got something to do with the manufacturing date? Also, I am planning to buy 360 slim . How do I get a lite on drive since hitachis are not yet flashable.
PS: I have added poll

I've got a damn Windbond. >![]()
i dont have a slim but if i had one, i would never do a KAMIKAZE hack.
no way i would drill into a chip.
it seems nuts to me.
i would try alternative ways.
but i think winbond is ok.
Always keep your Dummy.bin and/or key on more then 1 backup locations.
keep it on PC HDD and on a USB, floppy or CD for extra backups.
Only other option is a £50 unlocked pcb![]()
hmm that sucks ,but see it this way.
50 for a safe way ,or dont spend 50 bucks and do it the risky way and get a bugggy or busted xbox.
i would spend the 50 bucks or look for other ways.
i thought slim could be read by a sputnik probe and switch?
or is that with a certain PCB only?
not that i know ,im just wondering.

MXIC - use Sputnik switch or probe or unlock replacement PCB
Winbond - use Kamikaze hack or unlock replacement PCB
