When you say backups do you own the original game?
I have two 360s, a slim I use for normal games and xbox live. And a phat 360 I use for backups and have a separate gamertag on that one (I dont care about this one).
The phat flashed one never goes online, I updated the dash to the latest though. I've also powered it on without the dvd drive as I used it to power another drive for ripping games.
Can I take my legit gamertag on a flash drive and play backups on my phat, earn achievements and such, then use it again on my legit slim? I've read things about getting the console flagged if powered on without the dvd drive. Can this effect a gamertag or will microsoft never ban a gamertag just for playing on a flagged or flashed console, just ban the console?
I've spent a lot on dlc and XBLA games, not to mention achievements and friends on live and dont want to risk getting the gamertag banned.

Recommended KProbe2 Summary: (If they are higher than these then it's your choice to risk a potential ban)
PI MAX = 100 or less, PI Average = 5 or less
PIF MAX = 4 or less, PIF Average = 0.20 or less
There is never a guarentee.
Thus far there is nothing to sugest someone has been banned for using there profile on an xbox that has been flagged for a ban.
Thus far there is nothing to sugest someone has been banned for flashing there drive using the xbox to power it but the xbox definatly records the fact the drive did not respond and the more times you do this the more suspicious they will be. (imagine M$ banned these people they would also wrongly ban people with old xboxes containg loose wireing or that had been repaired and sold on)
Edit using your xbox to power your drive to rip a game is nuts dont be stupid get a CK3lite or check my sig for a home made version.
A flag sits on the xbox's nand (internal memory) not on your usb stick containing your profile.
Evenmore many of us have been hit with bans and transfered our profile over to new xboxes without a problem.
As far as we know M$ only ever give out profile bans for things like language abuse, or using modded games on there network (Jtag/RGH).
Once your xbox becomes banned its a different story!
Once your xbox is banned you will find data saved by the banned xbox is currupt and will mess up your profile for use on the other xbox example....
On your banned xbox you play a game right to the end and unlock 1000 gamerscore then you remove your memmory stick and stick it back in your other xbox and you get a message saying your profile is currupt, dont worry just format your memory stick and use the recover profile option. Problem is the gamerscore you unlocked is not showing so you wasted your time.
You dont need to ask everyone if they own the original, by definition the work backup sugests he does. If he had said C06y or even Do%nl$%d then fair enough. He also pointed out he rips his games using the xbox to power the drive. (Stupid way to get noticed but hey)

The words 'not so legit' threw me off lol or I would have answered.

Ok, so at this point there has never been a ban for using a gamertag on a flagged 360, or by playing burned games offline, just want to confirm for peace of mind. Is there any evidence to suggest a flag can be put on a gamertag regarding the use or a flashed console or poorly ripped/burned games?
I am thinking of just keeping my legit profile off the flashed console entirely just to be sure as I dont know if achievements and being able to transfer saves easily between my flashed and legit 360 is worth the risk, even if it is microscopic or non-existent. Am I being paranoid? I've spent probably $200 or so on XBLA games and DLC over the past years.
My flashed 360 never goes online, I did at one point to get patches and that's all, but I have now decided to never go online with it. I've never powered it on without all the components connected so I assume there is no flag there. I did have it flashed by someone, but they removed the drive and powered it with a x360pro.
I rip my own games so yes, when I say backups I mean I backed up my own disc. I am using a sata cable and ck3 mini on my desktop PC, works great although a bit slow.

if your sata cable wasn't connected, which if your ripping games or flashing its not you have a flag
the only way you'll get a gamer tag ban is if you buy hacked accounts for the points

Not an issue, I use a benq I bought on craigslist for ripping, to my knowledge my 360 has never been powered on without the drive connected.
thanks for the responses, can give me peace of mind now. Does anyone here do this? Transfer their gamertag between a legit 360 and a flashed 360 with no issues?
