Just to clear up what might be a slight misconception.

Kprobe doesn't ensure that your backups are "Live safe". It's only a tool that tells you what the error rate of your burns are. From this error rate, you can figure out if the media you're using and the burn quality is good. It's not a "green light" program like ABGX is.

The reason it's more relevant to use than the "Verify" option in ImgBurn is because the space required to burn an XGD3 backup is more inconsistent than the rest of the disk. Therefore, it's more important to find out the quality (error rate) of the burn, than whether ImgBurn wrote the correct raw data. The higher the error rate, the sooner the disc will fail (not debatable), which just might cause the right kind of error to flag you or cause the game to stop working.

although c4 has said that 0800 v3 ripped backups burned with burner max are as "live safe" as we have as an option currently...

To add...if there is/are CIV check performed and it happens to fall in an area that is full of errors the results may be classed as a fail (ie backup) which would/could result in a ban.

I just wanted to make sure nobody was getting the idea that Kprobe is a replacement of anything and ensures a live safe backup on its own.

You have to ensure your backups are "Live safe" by ripping properly with 0800, burning properly with iHAS and Burner Max, then learning how to interpret correctly the results of Kprobe to determine if your burns are good.

Following the best practices will keep you as safe as possible.

It's not as much of a spoon-fed process as it used to be.
