Hey!
I have a BenQ XBOX360 with Dashboard v.2.0.7371.0 (never flashed before).
Should I update the system before flashing the driver with iXtreme LT 1.7? If yes, which way is better to do it? Through LIVE or offline (USB Flash Drive)?
Thanks!

The OP stated "never flashed before" in 1st post.
I don't like to hijack a thread but I have a similar question & no need to start another thread.
I have a Falcon w/Lite-On already flashed with LT. What's the safest way to apply the system/dashboard updates with an already flashed drive?
I've read we need to flash back to stock firmware to apply these updates. What about using a USB Flash drive or disc instead of flashing back to stock?
Is the risk more pertained to getting the updates from Live or just the updates in general? Thanks!

Hi,
din't reed your message very good....
if you have play before online with your xbox360 you can update with a usb flash drive or update by xbox live
with caution...
Usb flash drive :
if you update bij flash drive, check with 2 test if you have a flag or already been banned...
Test 1
BEFORE YOU START!!!!
Make sure you remove your hard drive or memory card out of the xbox 360 and that is it!
Instructions:
1. Turn on the xbox 360.
2. When you get to the home screen there will be no profiles found. That's because you removed your hard drive/memory card which contained all your profiles. Easy to understand =).
3. Now go to system settings.
4. Go to Network Settings.
5. Click Test Xbox Live Connection
6. Start connection and wait for it to finish.
7. When it is done you should get a message saying to update your system. Here is another important thing you need to do DO NOT UPDATE!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM!! Just click No, don't update.
8. You should get a test connection failed message. Just click cancel.
9. After that click Y and you should get a list of numbers or codes.
Check your code under the letter Z
It should say Z: "whatever the code is"
Here are the codes to determine if your console has been banned.
Z: 8015 - 1002 means you have not been flagged yet. Hurray but still be cautious when playing online.
If it shows something other than that like
Z: 8015 - 190D, that means that you console has been flagged or banned.
Test 2

My opinion, restore back to stock drive like i did, update your dashbord, flash to LT
The problem is theres a story that, a chip in your 360 stores the info if the game is un stealthed in it wether you play a game offline, soons as you go online it sends the info to microsoft
anyway, i din't have any problem with mine....
future will tell...

@ Mr. Cre@TIVE:
Please go back & read my previous post. I asked a similar question as to the OP. I have a fresh system that's not been on Live at all. The console is already flashed with LT though but I haven't even connected an ethernet cable to the console yet. I want your opinion/answer! Thanks!

Re: Update before flashing IX LT?
Thanks Mr. Cre@TIVE for your reply. I'll update my dashboard through USB Flash Drive, using the latest version available to download at the official website, which is $SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip, and then flash with iXtreme LT.
Since my console still have a stock drive, I don't see any problems at updating to the latest version without checking if it's flagged or not. I was only afraid about not being able to install homebrews after I update my dashboard. But I assume that it's worth updating, because if I don't, probably I won't be able to play the new games, right?

Re: Update before flashing IX LT?
tonybologna, as like Mr. Cre@TIVE said, in your case I think that the safest way is:
1) Restore back to stock drive;
2) Update the dashbord (though USB or LIVE);
3) Flash to iXtreme LT.
Even if you never went LIVE, you still have a chance to get banned, specially if you are running an older version of iXtreme firmware (not LT). I've read that the console operational system is capable to detect if you have changed the original drive firmware, so if you update your dashboard on a stock drive, the chances of being flagged are lower than if you update on a flashed (hacked) drive.

Re: Update before flashing IX LT?
But, I have a fresh install of LT firmware. This console has never been modded until flashing with LT. I read a thread somewhere on these forums that it was safe to update via USB/DVD & you don't need to flash back to stock firmware to do it.
I can't find that thread for some reason now. It was stated by a couple members in that thread that it was perfectly safe to do it this way. You just wasn't safe to get the dashboard updates via Live. I do know that it's perfectly safe to get game title updates from Live. I'm just looking for the facts to stay safe.
Is it safe or not to update the dashboard from a USB drive or disc? If it is then I'm not gonna worry about flashing back to stock. I know it's not hard to do but why do it if you don't need to?
