Hej!
I have to thanks for this tutorial, as it says in case the PC freeze while erasing Lite-on you should follow this tutorial, very simple.
If there is some people whit dificult of making a BOOTABLE USB just follow this link ( http://www.fredshack.com/docs/usb_boot.html ) it shows how to create in a very simple and fast way a USB bootable, then just copy the files the tutorial talk about to the USB and follow the STEPS.. The DVD-ROM will be alive again working 200% if you put the ixtreme on in or 100% if you leave the Stock version. heheh

Thanks for this tutorial.

can you not do this in jungleflasher? if your drive is blank you just open JF, make sure the I/O port is the same you always use, (it will still say no drive detected) open your original firmware, spoof to source, then go to lite-on erase again, power-cycle when the ... appear as usual and you'll get the flash chip properties back and you can write it again, when its finished do the outro, and your drive info will appear again (under drive properties) prety sure you dont even need the drive half-open either.. i did this with a drive that crashed during erase about a year ago (i thought it was bricked) plugged it in recently and got it working again in less than 5minutes

I've never gotten JF to work properly for me. Ive tried with several different drives. I found it easier to get the key via the JF and then flash with the dosflash. Every time I have tried with JF, i get a write verify failed. It will erase the drive fine, but it will not write it. I have followed the directions step-by-step. If you do a google search for write verify failed jungleflasher, you will see that others get the same issue. The solution that comes up time and time again is to use DOSFlash.

Making a bootable USB drive takes all of 30 seconds once you download the tools. I have used the HP tool in the past. Googling that, it links to the system files for win98/dos. Then you just add the dosflash program files that are needed. I fail to see how this is "complicated".

Please don't make assumptions that people do not follow directions. I have successfully gotten my DVD key from my Liteon 93450C drive. That required cutting of traces and soldering. I used the LT Switch. It also required following directions perfectly.
