i have xbox 360 elite (120gb) with lite-on drive. On 360drives.com i found info that i have 7485 FW (but i am not sure). Is there another way to check it?

2. do i really need to dismount lite-on from my xbox and mount it to my PC? Is there another method to flash it (without dismounting)?

When you take your drive out it will say which version it is on top of the drive, thats about it.

to connect the drive to my PC i need a normal SATA cable? or something else?

Yeah you will need a normal sata lead also a compatible sata chipset >> general-support/compatible-chipsets-t516.html , yours may not be in that list but may still work if not you will need a via 6421 sata pci card!

i have got quite new gigabyte motherboard, it has chipset x48
will it work? (it is not on the list ; /)

before flashing should i update xbox software? because now when i want to open up avi movie, it says i need to make na update.
after update will it work with flashed drive?
(because after flashing i will not connect xbox to internet)

Yeah you should update now and yes the update should still work after you flash your drive
