Thread: Can I use Kamikaze method to unlock Mxic chip?

You cant Kamakazi MXIC chip, you can however use a replacement unlocked PCB I believe.
Or use the Sputnik probe

true and true.

You can use an unlocked TX or matrix pcb board OR you can use the sputnik probe or switch, but the Kamikaze method doesnt work for MXIC chips (and really, why would you want to...)

You can do the kamikazee knife method but like pachrist said (why would you do want to do that?). theres easier methods for the macronix chip, 3 that i know of. sputnik probe, sputnik switch or basic russian hack.

because i dont want to pay for a unlocked PCB or sputnik.

and i did 5 winbond chips with exacto knife, and i got pretty good result too.

im just unsure if i can do kamikaze for Mxic chips as well.

Yes the kamikaze method DOES WORK ON MXIC CHIPS but really with safer unlocking methods available why would you want to? If you had searched you would have found a thread on the kamikaze knife mod and on the FIRST page it tells YOU CAN use this method on MXICs and further in the thread I have posted a log in which I kamikazed an mxic to prove its possible

Tough to unlock an MXIC chip? About as tough as taking a dump after half a litre of turbolax 5000.

The chances of shit hitting the fan on kamikazes are quite high, I'm still weary an I must have done some 40 of them, why you would ever gamble when you have sputnik switch at your disposal is down right bizarre.

But you're too cheap to spend £5 on an unlock switch?? Glad it ain't my console your working on.....geez pass the cost on to the customer if you must, rather than gamble their £50 pcb.....
