    Bad DVD? Slim Liteon 16D4S 0225

    Ok, I am trying to read through and combine the information in the posts.

    I want to state I am not trying to flash CFW to this unit.

    Issue: DVD Stopped opening and reading games
    Upon turning on it says opening and then closing.

    Things I tried: I opened the DVD and tried checking for something sticking the DVD, Also tried cleaning the lens. Finally removed the lens and placed in Liteon Phat and Games read fine???! I believe it is the PCB Board. I would like to buy one and replace this one.

    Issue Cont: Drive Keys, Unit is dashboard 13604 already and YES Stock (My Live Unit) PCB board has 05 = MXIC

    Question: Due to board being MXIC I know I can get the key, HOWEVER, I read all drives are now locked after Dashboard 13599. So issue is I cannot get the key and if the PCB Board is damaged in the unit, and I buy a new unit how do I get the key onto the new drive. Additionally Can I just find a MXIC PCB Board and probe the old one to get the key or is the MXIC locks as I believed.

    You don't need to probe anything yo get the DVDKey.. Just read the JFManual how to obtain your DVDKey..
    But did you hook up your drive to JF and see what firmware your drive reports it? If JF can't recognize the drive in any way and you don't have your DVDKey, I think you're going to have to get the Xecuter CoolRunner to get your DVDKey off your motherboard or get a new console itself!

    I think 03 = MXIC; and 05 = WINBOND

    TY. I figured since it was updated and the jf tutorial says if its 13599 then its locked, so my question was if I get the key I still cant flash it to the new one?

    So I guess Cool Runner or nothing

    If you can't get your DVDKey then you need the CoolRunner..
