I saw that only CK3 Lite and CK3i are for sale now (CK3i has replaced CK3 Pro). Which are the main differences? I am not a "professional" flasher so which do you recomend?
In both I think thay can power the DVD drive while she is connected to the PC but I did not see the strange xbox dvd drive power cable... How do I connect the CK3 to the drive?

I still have to use the Kamikaze knife mod, right? Is there any CK3 that does not need that method or PCB replacement?
The main problem with CK3 is that the CK3 lite costs $21 and the shipment to Portugal $29... More for the postage than for the CK3...Last edited by nuno8210; 10-15-2011 at 10:40 AM.

I found CK3 lite in UK which will be much cheaper to send to Portugal. I already disassembled my Xbox Slim and confirmes that my drive is a Lite On DG-16D4S with FW ver 0225. I opened the drive and the chip is a 05XC...
So the only way to unlock it is by using kamikaze mod to cut the two microscopic wires, right? Is there any video of someone doing the drill? Is that a one time only job?
What are the alternatives to this method? I am a bit affraid that I fried my DVD player which has no more than one hour of use since new...
In future firmware upgrades I was told I should "cotton bud/q-tip and dab a little rubbing alcohol"... What is that exactly? I put alchool in the hole to short-circuit the wires I cut before?

The problem in replacing the PCB is the highest price. The chip only is cheaper but I don't have the machine to replace the chip. That is a too much "professional" task for me...
I would prefer to buy a sputnik and make three solder points instead but my chip is a Winbond.
It might be a silly question but if I have to drill my chip to be able to take the DVD key how will I get the key without drilling the chip to put it in the replacement PCB firmware?!Last edited by nuno8210; 10-18-2011 at 05:37 PM.

You get the key without doing the kamikaze hack.When you connect the drive to the pc you click slimkey and BAM theres your key.
Oh and try the kamikaze knife mod.Its really simple and safe to do.
