LiteOn (Slim) 9504/0272 problem flashing after dash update 13599

ok my friend got problem. The thing is that he updated the dashboard via XBOX Live while he was having modded firmware. We tried to flash with 1.92 for 0272fw. And its impossible to get to vendor mode. When we clicked lite-on erase after that dot sequence we never got into x72 state, later on xbox just died with Red light in the middle and with E76 error code. Later we tried to flash it on my pc and same problem we cant get it to vendor mode, we cycle the power by unplugging and plugging in the drive power cable. Help guys? His xbox is dead or what ?

that is because you locked his spi and now the drive is not writable. you need to check what chipset is on the dvd drive and then depending on which one you have (MXIC or Winbond) there is special hardware and soldering/trace cuts/repairs or drilling that you need to do.

what action locked spi? I have his dvdkey. Is it possible to flash that drive without soldering/trace cuts/repairs or drilling or not?

The update he did locked his spi.. And no, you need to check which chipset he has on his drive, either an MXIC or Winbound.. Check here to see what chipset you have (scroll down so you can see the chips).. After that, you determine whether to use a sputnik360 probe/switch or the dangerous Kamikaze hack to unlock the SPI..

so if he would flashed back to stock then updated to 13599 we wouldnt had this problem or still update is inevitable and spi lock was inevitable?

no it wouldn not have mattered. all slim drives got written back to stock regardless of order.

the 13599 update may have caused compatibility issues with your chipset also making problems when trying to get into vendor mode. if you read the jf tut, about liteon badflash recovery near the end, you will find a method of probing mpx 01 while power cycling to get into vendor mode. if this works and you have a winbond chip then try this, no solder, no trace cuts and no resistors.
