Try using the lastest iPrep
I have been trying to flash a spare BenQ drive for the last couple of days and it keeps freezing on either read or write. I am only able to successfully erase the drive (using DosFlash16), so I now have a completely empty drive.
I have the CK3 Pro connectivity kit.
I have tried DosFlash16 1.8: I was able to erase the drive (eventually) but I am unable to read or write the drive, it freezes.
I have tried DosFlash32 1.8: Loads portio32.sys successfully (however does not work after JungleFlasher has been run without a reboot first). I was able to erase the drive, but reading and writing causes it to freeze.
I have tried the JungleFlasher 0.1.76 Beta (166): Loads portio32.sys successfully. I am able to successfully get it into Vendor Mode, erasing freezes at the read test, reading freezes at Bank 0, writing seems to be erratic, but never gets past Bank 0.
I am using a Gigabyte board with Intel chipset, G31 I believe, I DO NOT have a VIA sata card, I am using the onboard sata ports. I have successfully flashed 3 Lite-Ons fairly recently, since the LT+ firmware was released without any issues. I am trying to get the ix1.6 0800 (or any for that matter) firmware onto this BenQ drive, but it just is not playing ball...
I also need to add that I have used this drive in a console in the past to test a DVD key and it worked without issue.
Do I now have a duff unit?
Hopefully I haven't missed anything out, any ideas?

Thanks for your reply. I did try a version of iPrep, it kept crashing with runtime errors. I'm assuming it uses the .Net framework? I'm pretty sure I've got all that installed, I've used other apps on this machine, I shall have to check (Isn't JungleFlasher a .Net application?). I shall try it again, which version is the most recent?
I've just downloaded iPrep 11.6 to check it out, it errors when I try to load the ix16-benq-0800.bin file with 'A valid firmware source was not selected Only non-patched Firmwares can be loaded'.
However the ix16-benq.bin file loads fine, so it's a starting point. Now I just need to wait till I get home from work to test it properly ...![]()
I'm running iPrep right now,
First try, entered ben 1234567 12345, it froze on Reading Bank 0...
Second try, entered ben 1234567 12345 w for (W)right only (I assume thats Write), got the MTK Vendor Intro failed, turned drive on and off, got recognized, then froze on Erasing...
It's not looking good here ...
Does anyone happen to live in the Dorset area (UK), who wouldn't mind having a go with this drive. I've lost patience with it, I'm quite happy to throw it in the skip, but I'd rather get a second opinion, whether it's dead or not.
Okay, scratch that, I got it working finally. Took me a LONG time! In a nutshell, I'm using a Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L motherboard, NO VIA card, set 'On-Chip SATA Mode' to Enhanced, and make sure you have the drive connected to the SATA0 port, it should then appear as 'SATA Pri Master' in the DosFlash16 program.
Hopefully that will help others out who get stuck with this.
