Thread: Xbox 360 "Open Tray" Disc Unreadable (Press/Hold "A" )

There are a few answers to this problem, but it all comes down to what drive you have? Sounds like you have a bad flashed Lite-ON??? Try returning to stock and getting an original to play. That way your know the drive works and it's not a laser problem. If all works, flash with latest firmware and test/ Let me know if you are still having problems.

As you said you flashed back to stock, so did you try an original game while your xbox was stock? and your sure your dvd key matched up correctly before flashing? If so you will need to replace your laser or drive.

Yes I spoofed the source and target and both the keys matched. I don't think it will work in any other case than this. No I did not try to flash to stock, re-assemble my Xbox and test if my original game works and then disassemble then flash to 1.7 then re-assemble again.

Why do I need to change the drive/laser if I can bypass this by pressing and holding the A button. This is purely a software problem. Pressing and holding the A button clears the cache in order to load the game.

You don't have to reassemble your console to try it out. Just flash the drive back to stock firmware, re-connect it back to your XBox (leave the case off) and try an original. That's what Slick is trying to tell you. If the original plays, make sure (triple check) that when you spoof source to target, the key matches 100%, and then erase the drive and finally write the Lite Touch firmware.

I had a similar error with my benQ drive it said "disc Unreadable" and sometimes i got "open tray" error. My solution was to calibrate the laser, the potentiometer original was set to 4.3k ohms and I set to 3.6k ohms and now itīs working perfectly.

I am more than confident that the key matches 100% and I did not have any error during the flashing process. I believe if the key doesn't match or something of that nature then the Xbox wouldn't work in the first place and would / can brick your drive. Therefore I will not try for the second time to flash to stock, then flash to LT 1.7 only to have the same exact problem. Not to sound arrogant but that is EXACTLY what I did already. Why do I have to repeat the same process twice? If it failed the first time trying the second time will be a charm?

How exactly do I calibrate this laser?
