well, since I was able to save my drive earlier today I tried to save a friend's drive that had the same problem...here's what happened:
-He went through the JF tutorial and got the key and files(bin files)
-Spoofed to LT firmware and saved the new firmware.bin
-Went to Lite-On erase, and during dots did not cycle fast enough(that's our guess)
-Jf erased drive, but did not go into vendor mode
-Now drive is erased(of course), does not eject, etc
-I tried to do the same as I did with my drive and follow this tutorial to flash with dosflash/l-o-eras
-His drive does not show up in dosflash like mine did
-I know the port, so tried to choose it and get status FF72
-Only returns Status FFFF, i guess because it doesn't see drive
Can i now use L-O-eras and write to it even though it's not in status FF72? Any ideas? Thanks.

my lite-on version is 7
Hi there, good guide by the way.
Just thought I may add something to help with this guide though, as this will come in handy for those who hate using DOS to reflash their Liteon drive after a bad erase.
I found the following out by trial and error.
I recently tried erasing my Liteon drive 7Xx series, using latest version of jungleflasher 1.7. I started erasing the drive and my computer just froze up, I was not using a VIA card to flash with either, as I have an NFORCE 5 chipset that is compatible with jungleflasher. Anyhow I followed the tutorial of restoring the Liteon from 1.6 custom firmware to stock firmware, as I did not want to endure the freezing issue. But as I stated above, the drive still froze up on me.
I panicked a bit, when my drive did not eject, but I knew I had 3 backups of my original firmware - Dummy.bin, so I knew their was a way to reflash my Liteon.
I simply disconnected the Liteon from the ck3, and sata. And next booted into windows vista, and opened up jungleflasher 1.7.
Next I plugged my Liteon back into ck3 and sata, and went to mtkflash32.
Next select send/intro device ID and it should detect the liteon drives flash chip properties. Next go to firmware tool and select the spoofed firmware you want to use, e.g Liteon LT firmware and go back to mtkflash and click write at the bottom of the screen, to write your spoofed firmware, you may need to power of the drive and then back on within quick succession if it asks you to. I think when I wrote the spoofed firmware, it just stated writing bank1, bank2, bank3. checking bank1, bank2, bank3. Then I just power cycled the drive, i.e switch off then back on with the ck3, then pressed eject on the ck3 to test if the drive was functional, in which it was.
Then placed the drive within my xbox360 and tested with a backup, and voila it worked.
Also my computer doesnt support booting from USB for some reason so I figured out you can just do the MRA hack and get your drive into vendor mode that way and then reflash it in Jungleflasher. Hope this helps some people that have no usb booting support like me.
Just wanted to say thanks PhatAdam for the post, saved my drive.

Thanks for the awesome tut. I'm performing this process tonight to save the first Lite-On I've ever bricked, and I want to make sure I do it exactly right. I've flashed several drives from all manufacturers, including three Lite-Ons, and of course I offer to do one for a friend (and a hot girl at that) as a favor and bam ... first ever brick, so I'm very eager and determined to redeem myself.
Basically, I have only question: Does the drive tray need to be "half open" during this process?
I read through all the posts and I don't think it's been made clear, but if I missed the answer to this question, forgive my obliviousness. :P Thanks again PhatAdam and everyone on the iXtreme & Jungle teams.
