This is my first time trying to flash a sammy.I am using the maximus 360 lizard and everything is current.The drive was flashed prior not too sure which fw it had.But I was trying to updated it with the most current fw but it won't play any original or back up games.When an original is in it will say play game,start to load and then it goes back to the dashboard.When I put a back up of the same game in it says play dvd.What did I do wrong?Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the drive may have a reading laser problem. Was the drive reading discs prior to changing the firmware?

Did a little digging, apparently the product you are using works fine with Samsung drives, so I am going to follow the assumption you have a mechanical issue with the drive. Here is a forum post on a similar issue from the forums sponsored by the product you are using to flash your drive. This post is just proof of concept that the device you are flashing with should be working fine. The fact that some games say "play DVD" shows your drive is at least seeing something is in the drive.

FIRST... Try cleaning the laser lens. Do yourself a favor and look up the proper way to clean the laser lens. They are very easy to damage.

If that does not work then try a POT Tweak

BTW... My first 360 is a Samsung unit; and as you can see in my signature I have 3 Samsung units in total. ALL 3 OF THEM went at least partially blind. one of them did exactly as you are saying and I bought a new DVD drive for it. The other two will read XGD2 but not XGD3. All three are flashed to LT 2.01 firmware. Samsung drives are very old. When M$ launched the new XGD3 format they were offering to replace your 360 with a new one if your system could not read the new disc format. I am almost sure you have a reading laser problem of some sort.

Thank you for your help.I will try too clean the lens and if that doesn't work I will try the pot tweak.

Just be sure to use the multi meter otherwise it is just blind guessing and in 99% of the cases will fail.

It sounds more like a bad flash, what do you use to power cycle the drive?

wasn't a bad flash lens needed tweaking
