damn mines still like this.. oh and if you have a via6421.. make sure to do the driver removal and kill any anti-virus while opening programs for flashing or it might hinder portio loading etc.. last tip... dosflash 16 version(dos) don't know which build is best but using 2.0 atm can vendor intro in dos using a usb flash drive.. but for some reason (error is flash size invalid during dosflash and spi flash type unknown if done easy way...) flashing the files is near to impossible to me.. i can vendor intro it... but not flash.. and the flash banks are unknown to me.. and you can't hit past 99 in dosflash 16 btw... 4 is whats used for the dgl16s drives when flashing.. oh and this works best for me so far DF(named dosflasher that) in command line of dos:
DF W c8a0(port) 1(port type sata) A0(master address) 3(maybe should do 2?) 0 (normal handling) 64(random number tried for flash size) f.bin (2mb sized final ihas fw) 0 (nforce fix no) not sure if any settigns are right or useful...
C:\df W c8a0 1 a0 3 0 64 f.bin 0
tip for dosflasher in dos mode... do not use liteon erase option in dosflash! it will render status fff2 i believe till you restart... not sure abour l-o-eras though...)
AND OMG ANY TIPS ON GETTING THE FILES TO WRITE! the 2mb one WOULD BE SOOO GREATLY APPRICIATED! and bank count... that'd be nice too... and welll any info... BYE!
oooo dos mode dosflash vendor is easy...
just unplug and plug in the power supply while doing vendor(TO THE DVD DRIVE! NOT THE COMPUTER!!!)..
that simple.. it works way too welll...
and OMG ALMOST FORGOT! use your via card if you have if in dos..
or atleast not any onboard sata ports...
if its an old system it never shows up in dosflash16 in the actual DOS! operating system ... THERE! i have given my 2.1 cents!
Thanks for all the tips! sounds like you know what your doing with DOS and VIA cards but since I cant quite tell if you got it sorted here is some info that might or might not help you which I posted for someone else the other day that wiped the drive perhaps like you might have...
Not done this for a while so check everything yourself twice over before you do anything. The links below to software have instructions and I am in work and cannot access the software and try it all out so if you really want to save the drive double check everything.
Step 1
Remove other Optical drives and re-boot.
Step 2
Get the right firmware. It might be safer to use the original firmware for your drive (i don't know which one you have) from here but last time my internet had gone down and I only had the top two firmware for crossflashing so I used one of them to crossflash (upgrade) at the same time.
If you have a 124 or 324 you can try the 524 firmware
If you have a 224 or 424 you can try the 624 firmware
Again its probbably safer to go with the original.
Step 3
Flash the firmware. Run the exe using the firmware files above. I think you have to select Update Boot Code especially when your drive is a bit dead!
Step 4
Run the EEPROM utility. I am not sure what the option is to default/repair/clear it but there is an option for EEPROM checksum repair so maybe use that. Alternativly convert was used for crossflashing(upgradeing) which I imagine would clear it up for you.
Step 5
Asuming the above was sucsessfull power cycle the drive or to be safe the whole PC. If you had any errors or are unsure post back where you got up to and what happened and we can go from there.
Step 6
Check your drive is functioning normally!
Step 7
Back to the Burner max tutorial, read it a few times over and give it another blast.
