so your saying jungleflasher doesn't see the drive as the pc won't show the drive as its not got the relevant firmware on it
So, I'm completely new to this, never flashed my drive before and I can't get my computer to recognize the drive.
Lemme fill you all in on my status:
I've taken my Xbox apart, and removed the drive.
I've identified it as a BenQ VAD6038.
I'm using a desktop computer where I disconnected the Sata cable from the built-in DVD drive and connected it to the BenQ.
I'm using my Xbox to power the drive.
Whenever thing is connected and then xbox and the computer is on, the computer doesn't detect the xbox drive.
I've verified that I have a compatible Intel ICH9(R) sata chipset, so I don't think that's the problem.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have the drive being powered by the Xbox, the computer supposedly can read the drive.
But for some reason, the computer isn't able to see the drive. I don't think the current firmware has anything to do with the computer not being able to see the drive.
I said that I've never flashed the drive before so it has a factory firmware on it.
look do u have jungle flasher open yes or no as the pc will not see the drive as normal ok the only way to check if the drive is connected is via jungleflasher
Hmm, ok that's good to know. thanks for that.
Umm, so when JF starts up and it logs what drives it's found in the output box at the bottom, what will it say if it's found my xbox drive?

To be honest, working with the ICH9 chipset is NOT easy.
I have this chipset and got it to work after trial and error during 7 days of non-stop focus!!
I NEVER got it to work after that, which was like a year after I first did it.
As much as I wish I knew how to do it, I am much better off with the X360 USB Pro I purchased.
If you still want to work with your chipset though, let me say that the key was using DosFlash.
I have the necessary files you would need to make a boot disk etc, but there is no guarantee that it will work.
Alternatively, try a Slax CD (google it). It will recognize your drive by putting it into Mode B, then load into Windows with your drive in Mode B. I don't know if this will work with your drive though but still worth a try.
seriously, if you can spend $11 get a via6421 pci card
PCI Express to eSATA/ IDE HOST Controller Riser Card (Green) CA467G - $10.87 - Affordable Converters
install it in your computer, then follow the jungleflasher tutorial. there are just too many issues using ICH9 chipsets and jungleflasher. As a noob you'll really appreciate how easy Jungleflasher is to use. slax+dosflash+noobs= erased drive and no dvdkey..... JF is 1,000,000,000 times easier with that via card. I would agree with aarunjon as to say You are better off with an X360 USB Pro; if money is not your concern![]()
