Lite-On Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Serial DATA was Bad.

Postby dudebucket » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:30 pm

Hello. I am trying to flash my Lite-On Drive. I have flashed BenQ drive's before but not a lite-on. I am new with the extractor. I don't have a ck3 probe or connectivity kit. I have a home made extractor. I know for sure it works. Thats not the problem. When I open up jungleflasher i go to dvd flash 32 and i hit get the source dummy firmware button and press down on R707 with the extractor and it just says "SERIAL DATA WAS BAD". It's on XP and i am unable to do anything DOS related because my computer is not able to boot with Dos. Any solutions? Thanks

Make sure you do the half open tray method, otherwise it won't dump the key.

How do you know that your home-made xtractor works?

What does realterm say?

Yo dude,

I have a lite-on drive miself and these days you don't need the spear or probe to get your key. Recommend a connectivity kit tho cause Microsoft bans consoles that boot up without the dvd installed.

Once your dvd is connected to your pc open up the tray half way and shut the dvd down.

- Open Jungleflasher 1.67
- Put your DVd drive back on
- Select your drive in the DVDkey32 tab
- Now click LO83info and follow instructions on screen and it will create a dummy file with your original DVD key included.
- Spoof the source to target
- click Lite-on Erase (again instructions on screen)
- click Intro device id, if you erased it good the drive should return with 0x72 Status
- click Write ... when its verified click OUTRO/ATA Reset and your DONE.

Hope this helped you

I know my extractor works cause i mailed it to a friend of mine and he used it on a lite-on and it worked. so i know that's not the problem. i will try the methods though. so i need to put the xbox in rendor mode myself (with the tray half open so the green light flashes?) and then open up jf 1.67 then dvdkey32 stuff? thanks.

You can always take the easy and surefire method to vendor mode if you are unsure about manually ejecting. Just hold the drive tray as the xbox tries to close it and it will give up, then pull fully out and then push back 3/4's in

What about the drivers you use? Are there conflicts with other usb-serial based devices? (nokia/printer cables etc)

Just a hunch ..but give it a go after installing the prolific usb serial driver and uart rs232 driver

Hello all. None of those methods worked. I hit dvdkey32 then *******WARNING***** DVD SERIAL IS BAD message pops up. I have tried a lot of things. Whats going on with it? I want to swap a benq drive for the lite-on but clearly i am not having much luck. my first goal is though is to flash the lite on drive.

What liteon version do you have? Is it the newer, or older one?

Detail what your home-made extractor is.

Might be a connectivity issue, worth testing in realterm (a com port terminal application)

check that the rx input brings up yelow data when current is applied (use low current)
