All this talk about firmware detection is a non-issue. I have modded 7 peoples console. My console is the only one left standing. Two of my friends hadn't been on in weeks and got on for 5 minutes just to check who was on (no disk in drive just signed onto live). Next day they both turned the console on and hello blue screen. Another friend played COD (original disk) for a week until he was ban. And before u say it's the firmware version, out of the 7 people two had benq 1.61, another had Hitachi 1.51, and the rest have lite-on 1.6. So M$ OBVIOUSLY can detect the firmware.

People are saying that the recent wave of banning is a seasonal thing that happens every year. If this is true, will the banning slow down at some point? Would it be a good idea to wait it out and not plug in to XBL until the wave is over? Does anyone know how long it will last?

Hey Gunman I have a Q for you. When you modded the consoles, did you use the solder link method ? And did you leave the links in place ?

Ban waves do tend to be seasonable and it turns out that the firmware CAN be detected. Words sourced from C4eva's own textbox

It's the way the hacked firmware responds to certain test calls that gives the game away to microsoft. Stay offline and you MIGHT protect yourself until ixtreme LT is released (eta unknown)

No, for liteons to get the key, instead of using a probe, you can solder the two points together. And i have a psp, you dont need to solder anything, just a Pandora battery and magic memory stick

Thanks for the update, Kaizen. Well, I believe that says it all. Avoid Live until iXtreme LT is out. Case closed. Maybe it's time the thread was as well. There's apparently nothing left to discuss regarding 1.61, and any discussion/speculation regarding LT should be it's own thread.

P.S. In case anyone missed it, abgx360 1.0.2 is out now with full wave 4 support.
