That tut should work. You can always download the Jungle flasher tutorial, which is also a good reference.

If you don't know the problem, at least tell me that.
I found out on another forum that, my specific model of benq has a different firmware.

"Its because the f/w doesnt have the "usual" framing bytes before the key
00 11 22 33 44 55 66 77 88 99 AA BB CC DD EE FA
FirmTool by caster420 checks the area a bit differently (Im sure) and will locate the key with the 0xFF's after the key."
This was what I needed:

Hope you can help someone with this problem in the future, it was a MAJOR hassle to figure out.

Re: Flashing Benq VAD6038 drive Tutorial
I dont know if the guide is out of date but I've just used jungleflasher 0.1.64b to get the key from my first benq drive.
The drive is dead & I'm going to replace with a sammy but before I do, I just wanted to check that this looked good as the guide says you cant get a benq key with jungleflasher.
EDIT: Pic removed.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Flashing Benq VAD6038 drive Tutorial
The tutorial is a little dated as the newer versions of JF supports all drive types.
That looks like a good key.
If money is not an issue I'd get another benq, the're better drives.

Is this the definition of irony?

Thanks LoungeFly.
The new drive is already here so its too late to get another Benq, but other than the eject belts stretching I've always found samsung's to be reliable.

ixtreme 1.6 will not boot wave 4 backups. You need to put ixtreme 1.61 on there. You can find the firmware in the download section.

Re: Flashing Benq VAD6038 drive Tutorial
Does this guide still apply to 1.61 when upgrading from 1.6?
Does the ck3 stop the half open drawer method if you know what I mean?
And stupid question.. I guess you connect it all with pc off? Lol

Yeah, it should work. However, have you tried jungle flasher? It's a great app, love it
