Thread: Using your 360 to flash your DVD drive!

1, Power on the 360 as normal, Go to the system settings, and in to Console Settings, now go into Startup and Shutdown menu and set the Auto-Off feature to off, this will prevent the 360 turning itself off before you want it to. Now turn it off.

2, For all drives except Lite-On goto step 3, Google MPX01 Connector DIY, and see if you can build a probe for extracting your key ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE0e-DV1ieM ), If you are only doing your own system then you can make one using your 360 DVD drive power cable! and put it back to normal after you have your key.

3, You will need a SATA data connection to read and flash the drive,

3A, If you have a compatible Chipset in a PC, then turn it off and hook a sata cable up from the pc to the 360 dvd drive, leaving the power cable in from the 360, turn PC on and wait for it to go to idle, turn on 360, start JF in administrator mode.

3B, If you don't have a PC with a compatible chipset you can get a 360 via Sata pci card or get the Xusb pro if you use a laptop they do the same job.

4, Start JF, Goto the MTK Tab and look for your drive properties in the left hand side and match whats written on your drive. If you don't see it straight away you may need to search through all the I/O ports until it shows, just go through them one by one.

As for Slims i say it's best to get an old Phat 360, around the same price as a good game, and flash that! so if there ever becomes an issue with CFW'd systems you aren't halving the value of your Slim console.
