Some would argue that they wouldn't have products to sell if it weren't for other hackers coming up with solutions who never charged a bean for the info - take the RGH for instance. But then I have heard it said that they work directly with these guys so I'd like to think those guys get a slice of the profits, and I can't believe that c4eva doesn't get a cut either. Then again thats scene politics and I don't know enough to comment on it really.

To my mind, if they are making a product that helps me do what I want to in the easiest way possible with better support than I would ever get from any big corporation like sony/M$/etc and they want to charge for said product, then I'm more than happy to pay for it. I've tried alternatives mostly to my regret, so paying a higher price for a quality product.... I can't see an issue with that.

I understand that people think that TX might be holding out on a unlock method for the 1175 drive, but as long as people are able to play backups and the replacement PCB isn't ridiculously priced i think we should all just be happy. I mean if u want to play backups buying a replacement pcb will just be the price you have to pay.

Im glad to pay for an unlocked PCB! It may be a lil more expensive but it make flashing slims super easy!

    spi isnt locked,
reports of spi been locked are incorrect.
vendor mode is the problem,1175 fw prevents vendor mode without this
you cannot write to the drive,
key without rgh is possible so the obvious answer is dump the key/ofw
write to new writeable replacement pcb,
maybe other options may become available in the future, never say never.

How do you know this information?

From what I've been told, the chip is a write-once type of flash, so once written at the factory, it cannot be erased/rewritten, hence the need for a replacement pcb. I'd have assumed the answer to this would be a bypass to a custom chip, but maybe thats not practical/economically viable.
