For those who have an intrest in computing etc. and have not come across the Raspberry Pi project I urge you to check it out(raspberrypi.org). They have developed a Linux based PC the size of a credit card with full HD capabilities. It has a 700MHz ARM11 CPU and runs off a standard SD card. For full specs check it out. What really grabbed my attention though was how cheap the product is going to cost. There is going to be 2 models initially, the higher spec costing only £22. The reason for the cheap cost and tiny size is because the project is intended to bring programming to children around the world who would normally miss out on the chance to learn due to hardware costs. It truely is an impressive bit of kit and for a really good cause.
Recently I've been playing around with Arduino micro-controllers and stuff and stuff like that and after discovering this it got me thinking of the possible implications in console modding. Its small size and high specs surely have several possible uses and as a noob to all things technical I'd love to hear any suggestions console or not.
Console news?
It`s alright not everybody cares about the programming that goes into everything that we use.
I`m an python writer an am wondering if this is available in United States ?
I have an xbox and ps2 that I abuse for homebrew I made for it its important.
I know its a bit off topic. Thought this section was best place for it. I'm into music tech primarily and have shared the same info in them circles. Just impressed by the tech and exploring possible uses in anticipation for its release.
And yes it will be available in US (all prices listed in $). End of Dec from what I can tell.
