Could be something interesting coming for us PS3 owners. A program written by mathieulh has been released by a rogue developer.
In a nutshell, this should allow someone to get the Metldr key, which from what I understand, is what GeoHot never released.

I'm actually fairly saddened by this. Math (whatever his ego) is an extremely talented hacker and someone seems to have leaked the work without his consent. Then again I've been noticing that the PS3 scene seems to be particularly political, bitchy and driven by a really weird mix of competition and one-upmanship.
I suppose it all boils down to piracy, some people want to play with their tech, understand it and make it do interesting stuff while others - an increasing majority it seems these days - are simply concerned about video tutorials telling them how to let them download play free games.
Sad times![]()
Sad but then again what did you expect. This isn't exactly something civil and legal to begin with. He is very good at what he does, you cannot trust anyone especially in scenes. I bet sony is "lol" how do you like it when your stuff is leaked. karma...
yea but honestly i buy more games because of piracy. Piracy exposes me to games that I never would of even tried. I end up liking them a lot so I buy them. If it wasn't for piracy game developers would make less money off me.
Piracy isn't what annoys me and certainly isn't what my post was aimed at condemning, it's a crime like speeding - something that everyone does in some form. The thing I find so frustrating is the attitude of what seems to be a majority of people, the belief that they are owed free games, custom firmwares and no effort one click methods to defeat DRM. There seems to be an increasing unwillingness to put any effort into learning the ropes and understanding what you're doing before posting (often with capslock on) "HALP! PLZ!" with almost no technical details and then bumping the thread every ten minutes because no one has responded with a step by step guide to the problem that is almost certainly there because they didn't read the guide in the first place. Asking a genuine question is never a bad thing, particularly when you are honestly trying to learn something but asking mindless questions that have been answered a thousand times before (often in the guide that they didn't bother reading) just shows a breathtaking lack of respect to the people who've gone before you.
I always thought the idea of forums like this was to enable people to learn, it just seems that as methods of "unlocking" consoles have become more mainstream that there's less interest in learning and more demand for ever easier ways of bypassing security. The problem with this is - to quote a user on another forum I frequent - "design a foolproof method and someone will design a better fool".
In fairness this particular forum is pretty good, the signal to noise ratio is fair and the regulars are a decent crowd. Guess I'm just bitter and cynical![]()

you dont get the point! but here it is .The BIG corporations and their minions consider the regular consumer a pirate if they share or just simply back up their license content with anybody even my own household . here's an example i bought a computer from a big corporation with bluray burner included i know there's software out there to make my self a back up of my efing licensed product. there IM an Efing pirate. so all these spoiled kids saying i buy more beacuse being xposed to piracy adds fuel to these corporations going after hard earned folks that like to back up their investements...... so i have 3 kids they like the same singer does this mean i have to make 3 purchases of the same cd? thats what the big corporations are saying.... Aholes
so tru
ps3 scene is dead, wrong secction!
