What version did you flash it with. I think all the drives make the noise. I always save the game to the hard drive, that way, you don't have to listen the the loud drive.
I recently really got into this and I used this site to properly flash my system( Benq flashing w/out the CK3 Connectivity Kit is way easy BTW.) I soon realized after the flash that my Benq was making a similar noise to a processor working hard. I then decided to flashing back to my original firmware that was preloaded onto the system when I bought it from the store*(BEST BUY, an adults playground). The system stared making the noise again, though less pronounced. is this common? how long will my drive last me making this noise?

Okay, I flashed from 1.51 to 1.6 on may 15. Today I did a re-flash to see if it was just a bad flash, why did it things change from 1.4 where you could select drive speed? I would much rather run at 8x to cut down on this actually, really loud drive noise. The drive is however doing it's job and reading my back-ups. Is my drive going to go if this persists?
Yeah, they got rid of the option of the lower read speed. I'm not sure why, but it has something to do with it being stealth, etc.
I'd rather have 8x read, than 12x. Those dang drivers get pretty loud.
