I have a couple of games that when I pop them it, it asks me to do an update...I never did the updates until now because I was worried if I updated that the firmware would get deleted or something.

I'm just curious to know what the game updates do system wise so that I don't get all worried my firmware will be eaten up. If someone could explain it to me I would appreciate it .

I understand it's the system updates I should be worried about but I don't play live and I have a hitachi LG drive if that matters.

If I do not play online, should I still worry about system updates? I am being asked to do a system/security/dashboard update to play darksiders and I allllmost wanna do it but am not sure if I really should. Opinions?

You're perfectly safe to update your dashboard offline mate. If you were going to be using Live, everyone is advising that you flash back to stock or use a stock drive, update the console and then go back to your hacked drive/FW.

Don't worry about it mate. Lots of people get that feeling when they see the word "update", they look and think OH MY GOD what's going on haha.
