Verification is a finicky thing just turn it off. I personally stopped using it after similar results
I have backed up several of my XBOX 360 games and am very confused.
I am using Verbatim 2.4X as recommended and have followed the settings instructions in the tutorials. That said, several discs I've attempted to burn seem to burn fine, but in verifying, IMGBurn says there are some miscompares. Other times, I am able to burn the same file to DVD and it verifies 100% correct with no miscompares.
Why does this happen?
In some instances, I didn't do anything or change any settings, and one time the burn gets miscompares, and others burn fine with the same settings. My IHAS drive is brand new.
Is Clone CD a good alternative? I am skeptical of Clone CD because it doesn't have a verify function.
Is anyone else plagued with miscompares during the verify portion of creating a backup, and if so, how do you resolve this?
I am using a IHAS 124B flashed plugged into my computer via SATA (Windows 7 64 bit). I am ripping with XBOX Backup Creator (the latest edition) and burning with IMGBurn (the latest edition).
Verbatim discs are far more expensive than others and I'm afraid to end up with any more coasters.
Thank you for taking to the time to respond.
As you can imagine, it has been frusterating since we all know the Verbatim brand DVD DL discs are a premium cost and up until this point, I have been getting miscompares on nearly every Verbatim disc I attempted to burn. Out of a 20 pack spindle of blank Verbatim DVD DL's, I managed to end up with just 4 that did not yield some sort of miscompare errors (in IMGBURN) after repeatedly trying to burn the same ISO's (3 seperate games) over and over trying to get a good verification.
Last night after posting my question here on the miscompares, I went home and experimented by re-burning the ISO's/.DVD files I have had trouble with via CD Clone, then used the Image Verification tool within IMGBURN to verify my backup burned with CD CLONE. Every single burn yielded ZERO miscompares and ZERO errors within IMGBURN. They checked out perfectly 100%.
I am convinced that CD CLONE is the way to go and will no longer use IMGBURN for the writing process, but will use IMGBURN for the verifying process after the disc has been burned with CD CLONE.
- With IMGBURN I am lucky if 25% of the time the disc burns and checks out 100% ok in verify mode (meaning no errors, no miscompares)
- With Clone CD, so far, I have had 100% success with every disc burned so far (meaning no errors, no miscompares when verified only, after being burned with Clone CD, within IMGBurn)
I don't know how CD Clone manages to burn the discs perfectly and without these miscompare errors that IMGBURN warns of, but it's what I'll be sticking with going forward.
Of course it may just be a fluke that my tests last night all yielded 100% success (burn with Clone CD and verified with IMGBURN) but so far, it's looking really good.
Maybe I have my settings wrong in IMGBURN. I've emulated all the tutorials posted here and just didn't have the success other have.
What I like about Clone CD is it's really simple, stripped down, and basically a load and burn application - there aren't multiple settings and fancy-ass options to tweak and enable/disable. It's like CD Clone "just knows".
Does anyone know if Clone CD works for XGD3 games using the Burnermax firmware? I have an IHAS 124B flashed with burnermax and wondered if Clone CD would handle the XGD3 games NOT truncated.....anyone?
I would like to update that I believe I have resolved this issue. What I have been doing is burning my NON XGD3 games in CD CLONE, then verifying with IMGBURN. In addition, I discovered if I burn NON XGD3 backups in IMGBURN in safe mode, I can generally have a 100% verify.
then you are truncating i think
Baywatch ur confusing yourself and now you got ttanmay7 on the ropes.
All u need to know xgd2 burns can be burnt on standard DL drive without burner max firmware.
You must use a DL drive that is compatible with the Burner Max firmware, and since you have one GREAT! If you need helping flashing it just ask. That is for the Xgd3 formatted discs, you MUST use it to prevent truncation.
Forget about verification all together, run your xgd3 burns thru Krpobev2 and check how they stack up against recommended pi and pif maxes and averages.
Your making this to hard on yourself.
You are correct. I was making it hard on myself.
After scouring the forums here, I found a thread that featured the author of IMGBURN running a bunch of scenerios through IMGBURN to come up with the most reliable settings for burning 360 games. I have been using what they determined to be the most reliable setting and can say I get excellent kprobe results well under the thresholds.
I've abandoned CD CLONE and have been using IMGBURN.
If I could close this thread I would as this is a resolved issue now. Thank you to all for your assistance!
Glad you made it through, there is light at the end of the tunnel after all, eh.
